Genysis Labs is pleased to announce the addition of two highly-skilled, research scientists to our management team. Dr. Aihua Liu is now the Director of Research and Development; and Mr. Firas Harb is the Director of Inorganic Analysis at Genysis Labs. Dr. Liu will oversee the R&D and sample analysis of HPLC/UPLC and LC/MS/MS testing. Mr. Firas will oversee ICP/MS testing. Both of these are critical areas to our operations.
Dr. Liu holds a PhD in Pharmacognosy, an M.S. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, and a B.S. in Pharmacy. She has five years postdoctoral training in Nutritional Biochemistry. Prior to joining Genysis Labs, she was the Team Leader of the bio-analytical method development group at Covance in Salt Lake City, which was supporting pre-clinical and clinical trials testing. She has extensive experience with bio-analytical method development, method validation, and sample analysis using diverse state-of-the-art technologies, including UPLC/HPLC, GC, MS, PDA, and FLD. She has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed scientific articles and presented over 25 posters in different international scientific conferences.
Mr. Firas holds a BS in Chemistry from Brigham Young University and a M.S. in Science and Technology from the University of Utah. Prior to joining Genysis Labs, Firas was the Metals Lab director at Nutraceutical International Corp. for more than 12 years where he gained an extensive amount of experience in the analysis of dietary supplements, and specifically on the use of ICP/MS.
Our instrument capabilities are also expanding. Genysis Labs recently added a Waters QDa mass spectrometer and are developing several new assays on this system. In addition, we are transfering selected assays from UPLC and LC/MS/MS to this platform as well. We have also purchased a second Agilent 7700 ICP/MS, which will allow us to increase our volume of minerals and metals testing.
In addition, we have recently added UPLC capability to the front-end of our LC/MS/MS. We are evaluating both qualitative and quantitative rapid-microbiology testing and anticipate making a capital investment in this area to decrease our existing turn-around-times, which are limited by the assay itself because of the growth of culture plates. We will be purchasing a Dumas system for protein testing in the near future. We also plan to add a second LC/MS/MS system in the coming months. We have added a backup generator system to place all critical instrumentation on in the case of a power outage.
Genysis Labs is constantly improving its systems and practices. By obtaining ISO 17025 accreditation, the laboratory has become a part of an internationally recognized standard of quality for testing laboratories.
With its start in 2008, Genysis Labs set out to bring specialty testing to the nutraceutical and food industries. Today, it has expanded into a full service third party contract laboratory, offering chemical and microbiological testing services using state of the art equipment.
Genysis Labs has a vast Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) identity testing library, as well as robust and accurate methods specifically designed for assay analysis of complex matrix samples by Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC). We also offer trace metal and mineral testing services by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectroscopy (ICP-MS) and Direct Mercury Analyzer (OMA). Whether you’re looking to test raw materials or finished goods, you can be confident that Genysis Labs will provide you with accurate, precise and timely results.
