At Genysis Labs, we are addressing protein methodology issues head on.
Current testing in the industry requires the measurement of protein — but the current typical test only measures the presence of nitrogen, and then the assumption is applied that source of nitrogen is protein. This assumption can be taken advantage of by ingredient suppliers and some manufactures by “spiking” the test with nitrogen-containing compounds such as amino acids or melamine, and make it look like there is more protein in the product than actually exists.
At Genysis Labs, when we test for Protein Identification, we can see EXACTLY what protein is in the sample. For instance, we can tell you whether there is whey, casein, pea, soy, or rice protein in your sample. In fact, we can even tell you if you have mixes of these protein sources in the same compound. We’re not just testing for the presence of nitrogen, but we’re actually identifying the source of the protein.
